Etihad Park is transforming into Queens' fully electric stadium and future home of NYCFC

Etihad Park, the future home of Major League Soccer’s New York City Football Club (NYCFC), is set to rise at 126-87 Willets Point Boulevard in Queens. Designed by HOK, this 24,851-seat stadium will be NYC’s first fully electric venue and the first of its kind in MLS history. As the centerpiece of a 23-acre redevelopment, the project will also bring a hotel, a 650-seat public school, and over 150,000 square feet of public open space. Bordered by 127th Street, 35th Avenue, Willets Point Boulevard, and Citi Field, the site aims to transform the area into a vibrant community hub.

“This is a historic announcement for NYCFC, Etihad Airways, and New York City,” said Brad Sims, NYCFC CEO. “Etihad Airways has been a fantastic partner for over a decade, and we are proud to call Etihad Park the home of our great club.”

The $20 million, 20-year naming rights deal with Etihad Airways underscores the airline's commitment to NYCFC. Etihad, NYCFC’s front-of-shirt sponsor since 2014, also backs the New York City Soccer Initiative, a $3 million program to build 50 mini-pitches and expand youth soccer opportunities citywide.

“For over a decade, we’ve worked to make New York a global soccer capital,” Sims added. “Etihad Park will stand as a testament to our deep investment in this city and as a cathedral of soccer in the U.S.”

The privately financed stadium is slated to open ahead of the 2027 MLS season.
