The latest census data up to July 1, 2023, indicates a significant population increase in Florida, with an addition of 365,205 residents over the last 12-months.

This growth has now positioned Florida having 3 million more residents than New York. South Carolina and Florida were the two fastest-growing states in the nation, growing by 1.7% and 1.6%, respectively, in 2023. However, in terms of absolute numbers, Texas surpassed Florida, adding 473,453 new residents.
This trend reflects the broader demographic shift in the United States, particularly in the South. The southern region, which is the most populous in the nation, accounted for 87% of the country's overall growth in 2023. The South's total population reached 130,125,290, with a significant portion of this increase attributable to migration patterns.
Specifically, the region gained 706,266 residents through net domestic migration and nearly 500,000 through net international migration, highlighting the South's continued population growth even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
