The JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp has opened inside the 45,000-acre Solio Game Reserve, a private conservancy in the Laikipia highlands known for its rhino conservation. Set between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges, the all-inclusive camp is the brand's second safari property in the country, developed with Lazizi Solio Limited.

Solio holds one of Africa's largest populations of both black and white rhinos, alongside lions, leopards, zebras, waterbuck, gazelles and more than 300 bird species. Guests explore the reserve on sunrise and sunset game drives, night drives for nocturnal wildlife, guided walking safaris, cycling excursions and birding, and can visit the Solio Rhino Orphanage, where orphaned calves are rehabilitated before release.

Designed by LW Design, the camp holds 19 tented suites. Every suite has a private deck, a plunge pool and an indoor soaking tub, with views of the mountains, the savannah or nearby waterholes. Interiors feature furnishings and artwork from Kenyan makers including Kitengela Glass, Safari Bronze and Ceramiqa Pottery Studio.

Shared spaces include the Map Room, a library and games room, and a boutique of Kenyan art and craft, with select pieces from the Solio Women's Empowerment Project returning proceeds to the initiative.

Dining draws on an onsite garden that supplies the kitchens. Mavuno, the main restaurant, builds Kenyan-inflected menus around open-fire cooking, the Garden Table sets a multi-course experience within the garden itself, and the Ember Bar and Lounge offers a fireside setting, alongside a wine room for private tastings. Meals also move into the reserve, from bush breakfasts to dinners under the stars.

Wellness centers on the Spa by JW, with treatments rooted in regional traditions and highland botanicals, alongside a fitness center and an outdoor pool. The all-inclusive stay covers transfers from the nearby Nanyuki Airstrip.
