Major makeover planned for North Naples’ mixed-use Mercato development, transforming it into an elevated entertainment hub and walkable oasis

Exciting changes are coming to Mercato, a beloved spot in North Naples, thanks to a collaboration between North American Properties (NAP) and owner PGIM Real Estate. This summer and fall, the partners are set to reimagine Mercato as a vibrant entertainment destination, envisioning a "walkable, experiential oasis."

Expanded Green Space and Enhanced Events Area

A key feature of the redevelopment is the expansion of the current Piazza from 3,000 square feet to nearly triple its size, stretching between Bravo Italian Kitchen and Narrative Coffee Roasters. This new central green space will be equipped with additional turf, seating walls, benches, landscaping, and lighting, providing a perfect setting for Mercato's diverse events. A permanent covered performance stage will also be added, making it an ideal venue for movies, concerts, and other entertainment. The beloved Mercato Christmas tree will be relocated within this expanded plaza to make way for the stage.

Improved Pedestrian-Friendly Atmosphere

Transformations extend beyond the Piazza to Mercato's main street, Strada Place. To enhance pedestrian experience, a portion of Strada Place will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic during events, inviting guests to explore the street comfortably. New lounge areas will replace some on-street parking, and a branded Mercato logo mural will serve as a unique crosswalk. Even when not closed for events, the street will feature triangular shade structures and strings of lights, creating a charming ambiance for shoppers and diners.

Focus on Unique Storefronts

NAP is also shifting Mercato's merchandising strategy to emphasize individuality. Retailers and restaurants are encouraged to design storefronts that reflect their unique brands, contributing to a visually engaging experience for visitors. This strategy has already attracted new businesses such as Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Lovesac, Tempur-Pedic, and Warby Parker.

A Vibrant Community Hub

With these significant upgrades, NAP aims to reinforce Mercato's bond with the community, positioning it as a lively hub for entertainment and leisure. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-July and is expected to be completed by November, promising a renewed Mercato just in time for the holiday season.
