Montage Hotels & Resorts is putting its name on an entire island for the first time. Rising on a 53-acre cay in the Abacos, near Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco, Montage Cay is nearing its debut after passing $150 million in residence sales.

Seven white-sand beaches ring the island, and a deep-water marina with 47 slips lets owners and guests arrive by yacht and step straight onto the sand.

Stays on the cay are organized around 50 all-suite accommodations, including a collection of over-water bungalows that float above the shallows. Dining spans six distinctive venues, from the Signature Restaurant to the Beach Bar & Grill, while Spa Montage, a fitness center, swimming pools, and the brand's Paintbox Children's Club give the island the range of a full resort rather than a hideaway.

For buyers looking to put down roots, the island carries a collection of Montage Residences spanning shore cottages, villas, and estates, along with a limited run of oversized oceanfront homesites where owners can shape their own retreats.

The project is a partnership between Sterling Global Financial and Montage International, a roughly $300 million undertaking that turns a once-quiet cay into one of the most complete private-island offerings in the Caribbean.

Architecture comes from Newport Beach-based Gensler, with Santa Barbara architectural consultant Robert C. Glazier, AIA, shaping each residence in harmony with the island. Toronto's DesignAgency leads interiors, blurring the line between indoors and out, while Kansas City-based SKS Landscape Architects preserves and amplifies the native landscape.
