Palm Beach International Airport has a new name. As of July 9, 2026, the airport is officially President Donald J. Trump International Airport in honor of the president, whose Mar-a-Lago residence sits a few miles away.

The Florida Legislature approved the bill in February 2026, 25 to 11 in the Senate and 81 to 30 in the House, and Governor Ron DeSantis signed it into law in March, with the change requiring Federal Aviation Administration sign-off to take effect. The FAA approved it, and the airport became the first in the United States to be named after a sitting president.

For travelers, the practical effects are limited, and the airport has stressed that this is a branding change only. Ownership, governance, legal status, and operational control of the airport are unchanged, and airline routes, schedules, and customer services remain unaffected.

Property taxes will not be used to fund the name change; the transition will be covered by airport revenues or other airport funding sources. And while the higher profile could aid advocacy for federal infrastructure dollars, the airport says the renaming itself does not create or guarantee new funding, and none has been formally announced.
