In late March 2023, Palm Beach International (PBI) began the expansion of Concourse B as part of an ongoing phased modernization program. The multi-million dollar project included a refresh of the concourse which featured new terrazzo flooring and carpeting, expanded hold room and restroom spaces, elevated ceiling heights, new restaurant spaces, and an integrated nursing suite among other improvements.
The project was done in phases with the first phase including a new 3,000 square foot restaurant near Gate B5 and restroom expansion. During the expansion, there were reduced food and beverage options and limited restroom availability in Concourse B. However, Concourse A remained open for the duration of the project, which was estimated to take about 12 months.
According to Laura Beebe, the Director of Airports, the goal was to provide passengers with an easy, convenient, and less stressful travel experience, and these renovations delivered that and more. The expansion of Concourse B is a significant step forward for PBI, and it shows the airport's commitment to providing its passengers with a modern and welcoming atmosphere.
While there is no completion date yet, officials said they plan to renovate all of the concourses in the future.
