Melbourne is officially filling in one of the most conspicuous gaps on its riverfront. The Victorian Minister for Planning has granted the permit for One Queens Bridge Street, marketed as The One, clearing PDG's $1 billion+ skyscraper to rise 787 feet over Southbank's Yarra promenade. The approval unlocks a corner that has sat idle for years.

The 70-story mixed-use tower will stack 588 residences, a luxury hotel, and boutique offices. At street level, PDG restores the heritage-listed Queen's Bridge Hotel as the tower's main entry, with the square becoming a civic plaza opening onto the river promenade, so pedestrians gain an activated pocket of the waterfront.

Residents get what PDG calls an "urban village in the sky." More than 59,000 square feet of amenity threads through the tower, including a pool, a gym, sauna and steam rooms, a pickleball court, a golf simulator, and a putting green.

The One arrives amid a broader wave of high-density approvals reshaping the future of Melbourne's inner riverfront. A few blocks south, Beulah's approved twin STH BNK towers push the precinct's ambitions higher. Downstream, the reborn Seafarers precinct now anchors Australia's first 1 Hotel.

PDG is planning a launch for early 2027, with earlier filings pointing to completion around 2029.
