A former bank in the heart of London's Square Mile has reopened as The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton. The hotel takes its name from the bowler hat, known colloquially as a "Derby," a nod to British style and the City's banking history.
Set on Great Tower Street, the hotel is moments from the Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral. Its 234 rooms include 13 signature suites with views across the City skyline.
The Derby leans into its address, 5–10 Great Tower Street, with a daily "Golden Hour" at 5:10 p.m., when guests are offered a cocktail of the day. Beside the reception, a Treasury Wall installation references the building's former life as a bank, its compartments occasionally revealing surprises for guests checking in.
Dining centers on Rycrofte's Restaurant, Coffeehouse and Bar, named for Sir John Rycrofte, sergeant of the larder to Henry VII and Henry VIII. The venue reinterprets classic British dishes. A monthly Mercer's Market showcases local artists and artisans, drawing on the area's history of trade and craftsmanship.

Additional amenities include a 24-hour gym and two boardrooms seating 10 and 20 guests. For larger gatherings, the hotel has a private dining room for up to 30 and an event space for up to 70, both overlooking St Dunstan in the East Church Garden.
