The Setai – a renowned luxury hotel brand – is making its Caribbean debut in St. Maarten through a partnership with Toronto-based Altree Developments. Together they are transforming the under-construction Vie L’Ven Resort & Residences into The Setai St. Maarten, a high-end hotel and residential development along the island’s Indigo Bay. This marks The Setai’s first foray into the Caribbean market. Construction is already underway on the 205-key resort, with completion anticipated in 2028.

Design and craftsmanship are paramount in The Setai St. Maarten’s vision. The project enlists a world-class design team – including award-winning Studio Munge and HKS Architects – to shape an atmosphere of refined serenity. Upholding these standards, the resort will meet Leading Hotels of the World criteria, becoming St. Maarten’s first LHW-affiliated property. Guests and residence owners can expect interiors bathed in natural light, panoramic ocean views, and meticulous attention to detail – a new definition of Caribbean serenity.
True to The Setai’s reputation, the St. Maarten property will offer a host of world-class amenities for travelers and residents alike. Highlights include a private beach club with cabanas and butler service, a Les Clefs d’Or concierge team for expert, personalized service, three swimming pools including a tranquil adults-only oasis, a 30,000-square-foot destination spa offering holistic wellness treatments, sports facilities such as tennis and pickleball courts plus a range of water sports, and five on-site restaurants and lounges including the Ocean Grill Beach Club and the Asian-inspired Jaya, echoing The Setai’s acclaimed Miami Beach dining concepts.
The Setai St. Maarten will also offer private ownership opportunities. An exclusive collection of one- to four-bedroom residences is available for purchase. Each residence comes fully furnished and serviced, allowing owners to enjoy a personal island retreat with all the perks of a five-star hotel.
The debut of The Setai St. Maarten has enthusiasm high: with construction well underway, over 40% of the initial release of residences have been sold, and the next phase of sales is slated for early 2026.
