The tallest tower ever proposed for Fort Lauderdale has just been unveiled in Flagler Village, where a 56-story residential high-rise bringing 696 homes has just been filed at 115 NE 2nd Street.

The tower would stand more than 100 feet above Andare Residences, the 542-foot tower now under construction, and it would overtake the 608-foot proposal at 315 NE 3rd Street, which had held the title of Fort Lauderdale's tallest proposed building for only a few months. The plans put a pool on the roof of the 56th floor and a second pool on the tenth, with 696 parking spaces beneath 696 apartments and every home opening onto its own balcony.

The 696 apartments will run from studios to three-bedroom units, each with a balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows, and ceilings over 10 feet. At street level, 7,400 square feet of commercial space will sit beside the residential lobby.

Beyond the two pools, the plans describe outdoor bar space and multiple terraces, along with thousands of square feet of indoor amenity space still to be programmed. The podium will mix faceted concrete, white stucco, geometric glass, faux green walls, and spandrel glass. Above it, the tower will carry geometric facade patterns in white, grey, and brown stucco. Along NE 2nd Street, the plans call for widened sidewalks lined with greenery and other pedestrian improvements.

The plans are preliminary and are expected to go before the city's Development Review Committee soon, which is where the height, the parking, and the three-parcel assemblage will get their first formal look.
