C6 is a 51-storey residential tower planned for 4-8 Charles Street in South Perth, Western Australia, conceived by Grange Development and designed by Fraser and Partners as the world's tallest hybrid timber building. Named for the periodic-table symbol for carbon, the roughly 350 million dollar scheme pairs a conventional core with a mass-timber structure of cross-laminated timber, glulam and laminated veneer lumber, storing carbon in the building itself and targeting Western Australia's first carbon-negative residential tower. The approved design carries 238 one- to four-bedroom apartments across about 44,461 square metres of gross floor area, crowned by a 500-square-metre rooftop with an edible garden and entertaining space and supported by 1,600 square metres of communal wellness amenities. Its environmental brief extends to a shared-vehicle and end-of-trip cycling program in place of conventional private parking, with planting worked into the facade and terraces. The riverside site sits directly across the Swan River from the Perth CBD skyline, and Grange has since taken the development-approved site to market through JLL, handing the fully planned tall-timber vision to a new owner to deliver.
