The Dallas Stars Arena District is a proposed National Hockey League arena and surrounding mixed-use neighborhood in Plano, Texas, on the Shops at Willow Bend site west of the Dallas North Tollway. HNTB serves as lead design firm, selected for its combined work in architecture, planning and district design, with Doug Mann as project executive and Ryan Gedney as chief design officer. The arena is conceived as an intimate, high-energy home ice environment, wrapped by a walkable district of sports, entertainment, retail, dining and public gathering spaces meant to draw people on days when nothing is on the schedule. Early design imagery shows the arena set beneath a broad illuminated roof carrying the Stars mark, ringed by mid-rise residential and office buildings, a hotel and a central plaza, with the district advanced alongside the Shops at Willow Bend ownership. It would move the franchise roughly 20 miles north of its longtime downtown Dallas home.
