Jeddah Tower, also known as JEC Tower, is a mixed-use megatall skyscraper rising in north Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as the centerpiece of Jeddah Economic City near the Red Sea coast. Developed by Jeddah Economic Company, backed by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's Kingdom Holding Company, and designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture with structural engineering by Thornton Tomasetti, the tower is planned to reach at least 1,000 meters, which would make it the world's tallest building, surpassing Dubai's Burj Khalifa. Saudi Binladin Group is the main contractor. Across roughly 5.7 million square feet on at least 157 floors, the program stacks office space, a luxury hotel of about 200 rooms, serviced apartments and luxury residences, with a sky lobby, observation levels and a sky terrace near the crown. The slender, three-petaled tapering form, served by 59 elevators, is engineered to shed wind loads at extreme elevations.
