About the project

King Salman Park is a mixed-use urban-park megaproject in central Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, rising on the site of the city's former airport to become one of the world's largest urban parks at roughly 13 square kilometres. Led by the King Salman Park Foundation with a masterplan shaped by Henning Larsen Architects and Omrania, the Vision 2030 project wraps vast green landscapes, an art park, sports facilities and botanical gardens around a cultural heart, the Royal Arts Complex designed by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, home to a national theatre, an opera house, museums and arts academies. Around the park, private-sector partners including Retal and a Kolaghassi, Al Othaim and RXR consortium are developing residential-led mixed-use districts with homes, hotels, offices and retail, planned for some 12,000 residential units overall.
