The Marina Bay Sands Expansion, known internally as IR2, is Las Vegas Sands' multibillion-dollar fourth tower at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands, one of the largest single-property hospitality investments ever undertaken in Asia. Designed by Safdie Architects, the practice behind the original three-tower resort, the 55-story tower holds roughly 570 all-suite guest rooms plus a collection of ultra-luxury sky mansions, arranged around triple-height sky terraces and topped by a rooftop garden and pool level that echoes the resort's landmark SkyPark. The expansion adds significant gaming, meeting and luxury retail space to the existing complex, and is anchored by a Populous-designed 15,000-seat live entertainment arena intended to draw touring productions and major events to the Marina Bay waterfront. Built by Woh Hup on reclaimed land beside the existing resort, the project extends Marina Bay Sands' role as Singapore's defining piece of destination architecture and a centerpiece of the city-state's tourism strategy.
