New Damascus is a 988-acre master-planned district on the western edge of the Syrian capital, near Mezzeh and roughly ten minutes from the city center and twenty-five minutes from Damascus International Airport. Arada, the Sharjah-based developer behind the Aljada and Masaar communities, is building it in joint venture with the state-owned Syrian Sovereign Fund under a $7 billion development agreement signed in Damascus, with the master plan prepared in coordination with Syrian government authorities and aligned with national reconstruction priorities. The plan carries about 11,000 homes across apartments, villas and townhouses, together with branded residences, a 500-room hotel and 1,000 serviced apartments. A 173-acre public park anchors the open space, and the social infrastructure includes two schools with capacity for 5,000 students and a 300-bed hospital, alongside offices, retail, commercial space and government service buildings, modeled on the walkable, amenity-rich community format Arada developed in the UAE.
