Pinehurst No. 11 is the newest course at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina's Sandhills, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw with Ryan Farrow shaping. It occupies part of the resort's Sandmines property in Aberdeen, land that was mined from the 1930s through the 1950s and whose spoil piles, ridges and mounds were slowly reclaimed by native pines and wiregrass. The designers routed the holes through those unusual landforms, creating an intimate, mysterious setting that Coore has called weirdly wonderful. The course joins No. 10 at the Sandmines site and extends a partnership that began with Coore & Crenshaw's 2011 restoration of Pinehurst No. 2.
