About the project

Reforma Colon is a mixed-use district Fibra SOMA is building at Paseo de la Reforma 76 in Mexico City's Colonia Juarez, at the seam where the Reforma corridor meets the Centro Historico. Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos drew the master plan around a 316-metre, 72-storey corporate tower, a 50-storey residential tower and a 44-storey hotel tower of more than 800 rooms, with two further towers in a second stage. All of it sits over roughly 90,000 square metres of open-air retail, restaurants and cultural space arranged as plazas and pedestrian corridors rather than an enclosed mall, linking the colonia through to the historic centre. The scheme replaced several demolished modernist buildings and has drawn organised opposition from Colonia Juarez residents, who say excavation proceeded while environmental, urban-development and structural-safety authorizations were outstanding.
