Shenzhen Bay Culture Park

Shenzhen Bay Culture Park is a signature waterfront landmark by MAD Architects on the Houhai shoreline of Shenzhen Bay in Nanshan District. Two monumental, softly eroded forms, likened to ancient stones set down on the coast, rise from a landscaped public park, with much of the roughly 188,000 square meters of program tucked below grade to keep the ground plane open and green. Inside, the complex holds the Creative Design Hall and the new Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, along with a soaring special-exhibition hall for large-scale installations. Blending MAD's "ancient future" sensibility with generous public space, the park is conceived as a cultural gateway between the city and the sea.
