Sports Boulevard is one of Saudi Arabia's flagship Vision 2030 developments, a 135-kilometre linear park and active-mobility spine stitched across the full width of Riyadh from the Wadi Hanifah valley in the west to the eastern reaches of the capital. Led by the Sports Boulevard Foundation, the corridor lays down roughly 220 kilometres of cycling tracks and 135 kilometres of walking paths, connecting a chain of distinct destinations including the Promenade, Al-Rimal Sports Park, an Urban Wadi district, arts and equestrian venues, and extensive sports and recreation facilities. Major road engineering runs beneath the public realm, with the King Abdulaziz Road and Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq Road underpasses burying traffic so pedestrians and cyclists move along an uninterrupted green route. Planted with millions of trees and shrubs, the project is conceived as both a climate-resilience measure for a desert capital and a civic gathering ground, recasting Riyadh around outdoor life, sport and walkability at a scale few cities have attempted.
