The Stanley Film Center is the marquee piece of a major expansion of The Stanley Hotel, the Georgian Revival landmark above Estes Park, Colorado that inspired Stephen King's The Shining. Designed by MOA Architecture, the complex pairs a horror film museum curated by Blumhouse Productions, drawing on artifacts from its film, television and gaming catalog, with a 1,000-seat event center and theater for film premieres and concerts programmed in partnership with Live Nation Entertainment. The wider expansion adds roughly 65 guest rooms across two historic lodging buildings and a new arrival porte-cochere, turning the hotel into a year-round cultural destination at the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. The project is owned by the Stanley Partnership for Art, Culture and Education (SPACE), a public-private partnership formed by the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority, bond investors, hotelier John Cullen and Sage Hospitality Group, financed through a bond offering of roughly $400 million and backed by $46 million from Colorado's Regional Tourism Act. Construction has run ahead of schedule and on budget.
