Sundance Mountain Resort sits at the base of Mount Timpanogos in Utah, founded in 1969 by Robert Redford, who bought the canyon and built a resort around the idea that a ski mountain could stay small, wooded and quiet. It holds one MICHELIN Key and pairs skiing with an arts and film legacy that made the name globally recognizable. The mountain has been growing in deliberate phases: the Outlaw Express lift arrived in 2021 and cut summit access from twenty minutes to seven, another fifty-plus acres of terrain followed in 2022, and the current back mountain expansion adds more than one hundred acres served by the Electric Horseman high-speed quad, which delivers 1,850 vertical feet in a six-minute ride. Storyteller, a 1.7-mile upper-intermediate groomer with three expert gladed chutes, runs the ridgeline the resort formerly called Far East. Together the work brings Sundance to 605 acres and closes the first phase of its back mountain plan, with further expert terrain planned in future seasons.
