About the project

The Birmingham City Powerhouse is a 62,000-seat stadium rising at Bordesley Green in East Birmingham, England, as the new home of Birmingham City Football Club and the anchor of the wider Sports Quarter regeneration led by owner Knighthead. Designed by Heatherwick Studio with MANICA Architecture, the Powerhouse is defined by twelve brick chimney-like towers that support a retractable roof and reference the city's industrial heritage. A moveable pitch lets the venue flex between top-flight football and major music concerts and events, making it one of the UK's most versatile new sports and entertainment destinations.
