The Greene School (Expansion)

The Greene School expansion is a four-story mass-timber building for the nonprofit K-12 private school in West Palm Beach, designed by Carlo Ratti Associati with Nexus Systems using a prefabricated cross-laminated timber system to cut cost and speed construction. Built on the school's learning-garden concept, the roughly 30,800-square-foot addition blends classrooms and a gymnasium with an emphasis on solar power and energy autonomy, extending the campus founded by philanthropists Jeff and Mei Sze Greene. West Palm Beach's building department has approved the mass-timber structure, one of the first of its kind in the city.
