About the project

The Lido is one of golf's most ambitious acts of resurrection: a full-scale recreation of Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor's fabled Long Island masterpiece, a course lost to a WWII naval base and long considered gone forever. Working from a meticulous digital model reconstructed from period photographs and GPS-mapped topography, Tom Doak and his team rebuilt the course hole-for-hole on the free-draining sand of central Wisconsin, reviving iconic template holes like the Plateau, Alps, Cape and Channel. The result is a bold, big-shouldered links laid over rumpled dunes, blending Golden Age strategic design with the firm, walkable ground that defines the Sand Valley ecosystem.
