Trump Tower Tbilisi

Trump Tower Tbilisi is a planned 62-story mixed-use tower in the Georgian capital's Saburtalo district, beside the new Central Park, designed by Gensler as a joint venture between the Trump Organization, New York-based Sapir Organization, and Georgian firms led by Archi Group and INVIA. Rising roughly 280 metres with about 850 residences ranging from studios to four-bedroom homes, it would be the tallest building in Georgia and in the wider Caucasus region, exceeding Azerbaijan's Baku Tower. The tower is the centrepiece and first phase of Downtown Tbilisi, a six-tower, $2 billion master plan on an eight-hectare site for which Gensler designed five of the six towers, and is planned as a multifunctional complex with luxury residences, a hotel, retail, dining, and lifestyle amenities. It marks the first Trump-branded project in the region and the first international commercial development for the Sapir Organization, which has built projects in New York and Miami. As with the Trump Organization's other international projects, the company licenses its name and brand rather than directly financing or constructing the tower. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the deal, noted that the tower is planned for land in Tbilisi purchased from a fund linked to US-sanctioned billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, and that the project comes as Georgia's relations with the United States have deteriorated under the ruling Georgian Dream party while the country has moved closer to Moscow. Georgian officials have described the project as a vote of confidence in the country's economy.
