About the project

Wee Nip takes its name from the Scottish phrase for a small drink, and the course is built around that idea: eleven holes averaging about 90 yards apiece, walkable in roughly 90 minutes, designed to be picked up casually rather than scheduled around. Dusenberry Golf Course Design of Shorewood routed the layout through the rolling parkland of the Grand Geneva estate in Lake Geneva, using mature hardwoods, contoured green surrounds and bunkering that rewards touch and imagination over distance, a course where a good round comes from creativity with a wedge rather than power off a tee. The property leans hard into the social half of the equation with a gathering spot the resort calls the twelfth hole, an informal lawn with games, fire pits and a whiskey-inspired food and beverage menu that functions as the course's clubhouse and its destination in equal measure. Music carries across the holes and a viewing area serves food and drink to go, so groups can drift between playing and spectating. The short course joins Grand Geneva's Brute and Highlands championship layouts and a practice facility with short-game areas and target greens, rounding out one of southeastern Wisconsin's most complete resort golf campuses and giving Lake Geneva a low-commitment counterpoint to its full-length golf.
