About the project

The new YMCA of the Palm Beaches flagship is a 55,000-square-foot, two-story community center under construction at Lake Lytal Park, along the highly visible Southern Boulevard corridor in central Palm Beach County near Palm Beach International Airport. Delivered through a public-private partnership between the YMCA of the Palm Beaches and Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation — enabled by a 50-year county ground lease — the facility triples the size of the organization's current branch and is projected to serve an estimated 18,000 residents annually. The community center is designed to function well beyond a traditional gym, with advanced wellness facilities, a teen Youth Engagement and Resource Center, STEM and robotics labs, a music/recording studio, art studio, teaching kitchen, Y PreSchool Academy, and flexible childcare and after-school spaces. It anchors a broader $75 million, roughly 13-acre campus that also includes an Olympic-style skate park designed by Team Pain and Palm Beach County's new aquatic center — featuring a 70-meter competition pool with a 13-foot dive well and a 6,975-square-foot aquatic play zone with three slides. A Phase II expansion will add a basketball gym, indoor track, and additional youth-focused amenities. Designed by PBK Architects with Hedrick Brothers Construction as general contractor; completion targeted for late 2026 into 2027.
