Alila makes its highly anticipated Caribbean debut

Alila has entered Latin America and the Caribbean with the opening of Alila Mayakoba, introducing the brand’s first resort in the region within one of Mexico’s most established coastal enclaves. Developed in partnership with RLH Properties and operated by Hyatt Hotels Corporation, the resort introduces the Alila brand’s design and wellness philosophy to the Riviera Maya.

Set within the gated Mayakoba community, the 182-key resort spans 60 acres across a landscape of mangroves, waterways, and beachfront. Accommodations include guestrooms, suites, and villas, with nearly 40 percent configured as suites, including a beachfront Presidential Suite. The layout separates quieter lagoon-facing areas from more active beachfront zones.

Interiors by Huber Design highlight materials native to the Yucatán Peninsula, including tzalam, parota, and rosa morada hardwoods, alongside hand-chiseled Mérida limestone and recuperated travertine. Custom furnishings and objects created in collaboration with local artisans reinforce the project’s emphasis on regional craft, while terraces and open-air elements blur the transition between interior and exterior spaces.

Dining spans six venues, ranging from beachfront and open-air formats to more intimate, chef-led experiences. Casa Amate returns as the resort’s signature restaurant, while Alisio Beach Club introduces a day-to-night coastal dining concept. El Huerto operates as a 12-seat chef’s atelier led by Executive Chef Michael Grau, centered on a zero-waste, garden-driven approach. Additional venues include Na Cocina Local, Ninguno Taqueria, and Xiim Bar, each drawing on regional ingredients and local culinary traditions.

Wellness is centered around Spa Alila, where treatments are developed in collaboration with local practitioners and Mayan elders. The spa integrates traditional practices such as temazcal ceremonies, sound-based therapies, and water-focused experiences, alongside a fitness space equipped with Technogym systems that provide personalized performance and recovery insights.
