Another long-time Palm Beach resident makes the move across the bridge

Former Apple and PepsiCo CEO John Sculley and his wife, Diane Sculley, are under contract to purchase a $40 million three-bedroom penthouse at South Flagler House, the ultra-luxury condominium that has topped off along the Intracoastal in West Palm Beach, and is nearing completion. The move follows the couple’s recent sale of their oceanfront Palm Beach Island estate for $37 million, signaling a broader shift among legacy island residents toward West Palm’s rapidly evolving skyline.

The penthouse, spanning roughly 11,000 square feet, will be delivered unfinished and customized with the guidance of architect Tony Ingrao. Designed with a media room and multiple studies, the residence reflects a growing preference for expansive, lock-and-leave living without the maintenance demands of an oceanfront single-family home.

Their purchase adds to a string of high-profile sales at South Flagler House, a two-tower project developed by Related Ross, the West Palm–focused venture led by billionaire developer Stephen Ross. The firm is investing nearly $10 billion across the city, with plans that include more than 1.4 million square feet of residential, office, retail, and dining space—positioning West Palm Beach as a rising business and financial hub.

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, South Flagler House comprises two 28-story towers with approximately 100 residences overlooking Palm Beach Island and the Atlantic. Amenities include a resort-style pool deck, private dining rooms, an indoor pickleball court, a library and card room, and a private theater. Sales launched in late 2023, with pricing ranging from $6 million to $72.5 million, and the project is expected to sell out later this year.

After selling their island home, the Sculleys have been renting at The Bristol, where they can watch construction progress on their future residence across the water. For them, the appeal is as practical as it is symbolic—less time spent managing storm prep and maintenance, and more freedom to travel.

Long viewed as Palm Beach’s quieter neighbor, West Palm Beach has rapidly rewritten its narrative over the past few years, as the city transforms into a year-round destination.
