Archer and Related Ross are launching South Florida’s first electric air taxi network

South Florida is accelerating into the future of urban mobility as Archer Aviation and Related Ross move forward on a regional electric air-taxi network that would link Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and the region’s major airports through rapid, low-noise eVTOL flights. The initiative positions the tri-county corridor at the center of America’s next transportation revolution—one built around clean electric aircraft, purpose-built vertiports, and travel times measured in minutes instead of hours.

Archer Aviation, the publicly traded eVTOL pioneer, plans to launch a connected network of 10–20 minute flights that bypass the region’s notorious congestion while integrating directly into key population, business, and lifestyle hubs. Midnight, Archer’s all-electric aircraft designed for four passengers and a pilot, is built for continuous short-hop service—cutting 60–90-minute drives down to less than 20 minutes with dramatically lower noise and zero fuel emissions.

To build the infrastructure required for this new travel ecosystem, Archer is partnering with several of South Florida’s most influential real estate and venue owners. Related Ross plans to develop a flagship vertiport within its downtown West Palm Beach footprint, creating a premium mobility hub in one of the region’s fastest-growing commercial districts. The partnership extends to Hard Rock Stadium—home to the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Open, and Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix—where existing helipad infrastructure will be upgraded for electric operations. Apogee Golf Club in Martin County and Dragon Global’s Magic City Innovation District in Miami’s Little Haiti are also part of the network, adding strategic nodes across the region’s lifestyle, sports, tech, and cultural destinations.

Archer is simultaneously working with Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and Palm Beach International Airport, as well as several general aviation airports, to ready a network that goes far beyond point-to-point travel. The goal is a seamless, multimodal system that connects daily commuters, business travelers, visitors, and leisure users to the region’s core destinations with the ease of a quick rideshare—only this one travels vertically.

The company’s FAA-certified airline status is already in place as Archer advances through the final stages of aircraft certification—the first new aircraft category pursued by the FAA in roughly 60 years. Once operational, the South Florida network would become one of the country’s first large-scale commercial eVTOL programs, adding to planned Archer networks in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.

For South Florida’s development community, this marks a pivotal moment. Related Ross sees the partnership as a critical step in advancing regional connectivity through next-generation technology, aligning mobility with the rapid growth of West Palm Beach, Miami, and the surrounding corridor. Magic City Innovation District views the initiative as the next layer of its mobility-focused master plan. And in the words of Miami leadership, the region is embracing electric air travel as another example of its willingness to lead, innovate, and redefine what’s possible.

With vertiport development underway, helipads being readied for electric operations, and Archer’s Midnight aircraft approaching final FAA approval, South Florida is preparing to unlock a mobility system built for the next decade—not the last one. The result is a region where travel becomes faster, quieter, cleaner, and far more connected, reshaping how people move across one of the country’s most dynamic markets.
