Gymkhana, London’s Michelin-starred venue, debuts NYC concept

Ambassadors Clubhouse, a Punjabi-inspired restaurant from London-based hospitality group JKS Restaurants, has opened in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood at 1245 Broadway. The US expansion from the group behind Gymkhana comes shortly after the Ambassadors Clubhouse London location received a Michelin star.

Located on the ground floor of film studio A24’s New York headquarters, the restaurant spans nearly 8,000 square feet across two levels. The 150-seat space was designed by London studio North End Design and reflects the aesthetic of the London location.

Interiors draw from the architecture and decorative style of historic party mansions in Northern India, with layered textiles, carved wood elements, and jewel-toned finishes. The restaurant includes multiple dining areas as well as private rooms for group dining.

The menu focuses on dishes from India’s Punjab region, drawing inspiration from street food, home cooking, and royal kitchen traditions. Sections include chaats and papads, kebabs, clay-pot dishes, and biryanis.

Several items from the London restaurant appear on the New York menu, including chilli cheese pakode and the Matka Beliram lamb curry. New York-specific dishes include the warqi lamb seekh kebab, made with pounded lamb wrapped in naan, and a multi-tier seafood tower designed for sharing.

The beverage program incorporates spices and ingredients commonly used in North Indian cooking. Cocktails are largely built around tequila and mezcal, while the menu also includes lassis, large-format drinks for groups, and masala chai prepared with saffron and gold leaf.

For the team behind the restaurant, the concept is meant to reflect a style of hospitality rooted in family gatherings. As JKS global CEO Pavan Pardasani explained, “In our culture, hospitality is bringing people into your home.”
