Lake Worth Beach explores adding new hotels, a convention hub, and Nicklaus-designed golf course

Lake Worth Beach is considering a transformative new vision for its city-owned beachfront—one that could generate more than $150 million a year for the local economy and create nearly 1,000 permanent jobs. The bold proposal, called H.O.R.I.Z.O.N., was submitted earlier this year by an investment group led by Copperline Partners and includes two Hyatt-branded hotels, a major convention center, and a reimagined Jack Nicklaus-designed public golf course.

The H.O.R.I.Z.O.N. proposal outlines a sweeping public-private partnership that keeps land ownership with the city but enables private development through long-term leases. The centerpiece is a $105 million, 250-room Grand Hyatt built on the beachside parking lots, accompanied by a $95 million, 150-room Hyatt conference hotel at the municipal golf course.

The golf course would be redesigned by Jack Nicklaus' new firm, 1JN, in a $22 million overhaul aimed at creating a world-class, yet accessible, playing experience.

Additional elements include a 5-acre public oceanfront park, a $50 million parking garage, and new beachside buildings with restaurants, shops, and a marine-themed attraction.

The Intracoastal side of the project includes a kayak and paddleboard launch area, and a new city recreation center and pool would be constructed inland at Northwest Park, replacing the long-shuttered beachside pool.
