Mandarin Oriental is set to expand its Caribbean presence with the announcement of Mandarin Oriental Esencia, Puerto Rico, a luxurious resort and residences slated to debut in 2028. Located on the stunning southwestern coast at Boquerón Bay in Cabo Rojo, this development promises to blend sophisticated living with Puerto Rico’s unmatched natural beauty.
The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Esencia will feature 83 exclusive villas and approximately 200 private, branded residences situated across a six-story boutique building. Designed to provide a sanctuary for owners, these residences will offer bespoke amenities while seamlessly integrating with the resort's world-class facilities and services.

Breathtaking Natural Beauty: The resort’s location on Boquerón Bay offers access to pristine beaches, protected mangroves, serene lagoons, and panoramic sunsets. Set within Esencia, a cosmopolitan coastal community developed by Reuben Brothers and Three Rules Capital, the project spans 2,000 acres of tropical splendor, including three miles of breathtaking beaches. In addition to the residences, the resort will feature 106 guest rooms and suites, some with private gardens, terraces, or plunge pools. An 18-hole Rees Jones-designed golf course, a dedicated children’s club, and an outdoor adventure center will add to the wide array of recreational offerings.
The resort’s design will be led by Studio MK27, an award-winning architectural firm known for its contemporary yet sustainable approach to integrating indoor and outdoor spaces. The project aligns with Mandarin Oriental's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable luxury.

Esencia’s master plan has been designed in collaboration with Álvarez Díaz & Villalón, Puerto Rico’s leading architecture firm, and EDSA, a global leader in master planning. Jamie Reuben, Principal of Reuben Brothers, expressed confidence in the transformative impact of the project, calling Puerto Rico’s west coast “a hidden jewel poised for incredible growth.”
