CityPlace is getting its first Curio Collection by Hilton. West Palm Beach city commissioners unanimously approved Related Ross' 18-story, 400-room hotel to rise beside the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
The tower will stand 204 feet at 900 South Rosemary Avenue, on a site that has spent the past decade as CityPlace's overflow parking lot. Elkus Manfredi Architects is handling the design: a curved glass tower over a podium topped by an elevated pool deck, with a two-story meeting and event space below built for the group business next door.
The Hilton West Palm Beach has carried the convention center's hotel business alone while Related Ross rebuilt the district around it, and the Curio becomes the second major hotel serving the center. To handle the added traffic, Related Ross will lease 590 spaces in the center's garage for the guests and staff of both properties.
A 7,300-square-foot restaurant will anchor the street level, giving the block a public face the parking lot never had, and bringing in new foot traffic.
Stephen Ross, who stepped down from his $60 billion Related Cos. to focus on West Palm Beach, has rebuilt CityPlace from the ground up — turning the district into a work, eat and play core with brands like Equinox, Alo, Moxie's, Fuku, Eataly, Pura Vida Miami, Lululemon, Lucid, Rivian, RH, and Crate & Barrel making up just a small portion of the brands that anchor it.
10 and 15 CityPlace, his two office buildings that are currently both rising in the district, are deepening the Wall Street South pipeline the hotel's group business will draw from, with Vanderbilt University advancing plans for a world-class West Palm Beach campus, an institutional anchor for the same downtown.
CityPlace will get a preview of that convergence on October 16, when Taste of West Palm Beach takes over the district. More than 30 restaurants participate in the citywide culinary festival, presented by DoorDash with Bank of America and Eataly as signature partners.
