Southworth unveils The Alpine Club: Telluride’s first private on-mountain retreat

Southworth is elevating its legacy of world-class private clubs with the debut of The Alpine Club, a landmark addition to Telluride as the mountain town’s first fully private, on-mountain retreat. Rising 10,540 feet above sea level at San Sophia Station—where downtown Telluride meets Mountain Village via gondola—the 26,000-square-foot sanctuary redefines alpine luxury with curated dining, wellness, and year-round adventure reserved exclusively for members.

Developed in partnership with longtime Telluride residents Scott and Lauren Woodward, The Alpine Club embodies the spirit of the San Juan Mountains while introducing Southworth’s signature approach to intentional hospitality.

Conceived as a high-altitude basecamp for exploration and connection, the club will feature a spa and wellness center complete with sauna, steam room, cold plunge, and stretch lab; an indoor-outdoor après lounge and restaurant; ski and parking valet; a private kids club; owners’ lockers; and a state-of-the-art multi-sport simulator with cinema lounge.

Construction is slated to begin in fall 2025, with a grand opening planned for the 2026/2027 ski season. Interiors by Pembrooke & Ives will merge elevated alpine aesthetics with rugged authenticity, using aged metals, weathered woods, and hand-stitched leathers to create a warm, sophisticated atmosphere inspired by Telluride’s untamed beauty.

Members will enjoy a rich calendar of year-round programming—from sunrise mountain treks and intimate chef’s dinners to signature Southworth holiday celebrations—each designed to cultivate belonging and unforgettable moments in the mountains.

The Alpine Club represents a defining chapter in Southworth’s continued growth, following a $350 million transformation at The Abaco Club in The Bahamas and major reinvestments across its global portfolio. Together, these milestones reaffirm Southworth’s commitment to crafting private destinations that are as soulful as they are spectacular.
