Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt is officially open, debuting as the first Taj hotel in continental Europe. Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) held the opening celebration in Westend on September 27, 2026, four months after a soft opening on June 1 and 2. The address is the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof, which went dark in 2020 and now returns with 126 rooms and suites. The building belongs to Peakside Capital, who bought it in December 2022 and signed a 20-year lease with IHCL in 2023.
Inside, Hamburg-based JOI-Design handled the interiors. The studio kept the building's original parquet, wood paneling, and marble in place rather than swapping them for new finishes.
On the ground floor, Bombay Brasserie seats 60 inside and 45 on the terrace, and within months of the soft opening it debuted at No. 1 in the Indian cuisine category of the Frankfurt und Rhein-Main geht aus 2027 guide. Beside it, Jimmy's Bar, the classic Frankfurt piano bar, has been restored and reopened, along with an additional lobby lounge and bar.
Upstairs, the hotel houses The Chambers, Taj's invitation-only private members club. First opened at The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai in May 1975, it remains India's foremost business club. Hotel guests can enjoy saunas and steam rooms in the J Wellness Circle spa, along with beautifully designed meeting and event spaces on site.
Gaurav Pokhariyal, IHCL's COO for full-service hotels, called Frankfurt "the ideal gateway for introducing the Taj brand to continental Europe." Until now IHCL's only Taj in Europe was in London at St. James' Court.
