Terry Black’s Barbecue has confirmed plans to open its first out-of-state location in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, marking a major milestone for the Austin-born brand that has become synonymous with Central Texas barbecue. The new restaurant is slated for 1220 Rosa L. Parks Blvd. and is expected to open in Summer 2026.

Founded in Austin in 2014 by siblings Mark, Mike, and Christina Black and named after their father, Terry, the restaurant quickly became one of the city’s most iconic food destinations. Long lines on Barton Springs Road are part of the experience, driven by brisket sliced to order, ribs, sausage, turkey, and classic sides like mac and cheese, cream corn, peach cobbler, and banana pudding. Since then, the family — operating under Black Family Hospitality — has expanded across Texas with locations in Lockhart, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Waco.
The Nashville outpost will be the brand’s largest location yet, clocking in at roughly 10,000 square feet. Plans call for an expansive patio, an outdoor bar and beer garden, and even a dedicated outdoor stage designed to lean into Nashville’s live music culture. The goal, according to the Black family, is to create a place where guests don’t just eat, but linger — enjoying music, drinks, and long afternoons that feel equal parts Austin and Nashville.
