The Nickel Hotel, a new luxury boutique, debuts in Charleston

Charleston's Cannonborough district just welcomed a new arrival earlier this month with the debut of The Nickel Hotel—a contemporary, five-story boutique hotel developed by Method Co. in partnership with Capital Square and designed by Morris Adjmi Architects.

This marks Method Co.'s second Charleston project, following The Pinch, located just blocks away. The hotel's name references the French phrase "c’est nickel," connoting precision and quality—a theme reflected in details like herringbone oak floors and a courtyard framed by wrought iron railings and a wood-burning fireplace.

The 50 guest rooms and suites are designed for extended stays, equipped with full kitchens, Bosch appliances, marble countertops, in-unit laundry, fridge stocking services, and curated mini bars. Some rooms offer balconies overlooking the tiered fountain courtyard.

Design was led by Morris Adjmi Architects in collaboration with Method Studios, Method Co.'s in-house team. Interiors balance vintage references with contemporary restraint, featuring custom furnishings, muted tones, and layered textures across the lobby and common areas.

Amenities include a private library, complimentary bicycles, and access to a nearby fitness facility with an 82-foot pool and sports courts. The guest-only Bar Daniel—named after Cannonborough founder Daniel Cannon—offers espresso in the morning, wine in the afternoon, and cocktails by night in a setting of sage velvet banquettes and antique mirror walls.

Later this summer, The Nickel will debut Rosemary Rose, a public rooftop bar with skyline views, small plates, and a seasonal cocktail menu.

For a neighborhood already known for its independent restaurants, vintage shops, and walkability, The Nickel adds another layer: a stay designed around comfort, long-form living, and thoughtful design.
