Affirmation Tower

Affirmation Tower is a proposed 90-story, 1,663-foot mixed-use supertall at 418 Eleventh Avenue on Manhattan's far West Side, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and a block from Hudson Yards. Conceived by The Peebles Corporation with McKissack & McKissack, Exact Capital Group and the Witkoff Group, the scheme was first drawn by Adjaye Associates as five stacked, cantilevered terrazzo-clad volumes that widen as they rise, giving the tower its inverted silhouette, and was later redesigned by OMA into a roughly 1.4-million-square-foot building. The programme mixes income-restricted and market-rate apartments with convention and event space, retail, community facilities, a public observation deck and the National Civil Rights Museum, developed in collaboration with the NAACP. If built on the state-owned 1.2-acre parcel it would be the tallest building in New York by roof height and the tallest anywhere owned by majority Black-owned companies, with the team pledging more than 30 percent of construction contracts to minority- and women-owned firms.
