The Athletics Las Vegas Ballpark is a roughly $2 billion, 33,000-seat Major League Baseball stadium rising at 3801 Las Vegas Boulevard South on the former Tropicana site at the corner of the Las Vegas Strip and Tropicana Avenue. Developed by the Athletics and designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) with sports architect HNTB, the climate-controlled ballpark spans about 925,000 square feet and is covered by a sweeping roof of five overlapping, pennant-inspired layers carried on long-span steel arch trusses that stretch roughly 700 feet across the bowl. Its outfield opens to the Strip skyline through one of the largest cable-net glass facades in the world, while fans get some of the closest seats to home plate in the majors, a massive video board, club spaces and terraces that make the stadium a year-round venue for concerts, conventions and events. The project is backed in part by public financing approved by the State of Nevada and a construction loan led by U.S. Bank, and anchors the Athletics' relocation from Oakland to Southern Nevada.
