About the project

Inspired by the orange gantry cranes of the existing cargo port, MAD's design lifts six sculptural, aluminium-clad buildings on leaning columns above the Yangtze waterfront. Six footbridges knit them together into the Yangtze River Skywalk, a 430-metre elevated promenade lined with shops, restaurants and sweeping river views. Below, a cruise-terminal hub connects to roughly 100,000 square metres of new public green space stepping down to the water. The scheme transforms a working cargo terminal into a cinematic new civic gateway on the river.
