The story so far

Foster + Partners and MANICA designed a roughly 71,500-seat stadium with two seating tiers wrapping a 360-degree bowl, set within a 281,000-square-meter district of new public spaces, green areas, leisure and retail built to draw visitors year-round for sport, culture and entertainment. Natural ventilation and photovoltaic generation are part of the design. Club owners RedBird and Oaktree are backing the investment.

AC Milan and Inter finalised their acquisition of the Giuseppe Meazza stadium and surrounding land from the City of Milan, clearing the last ownership hurdle before the rebuild. Site preparation has begun on the existing stadium complex, whose historic ticket office was demolished in mid 2026, and the Meazza bowl itself is slated for demolition as the new ground rises alongside it.

Financing secured Aug 2026

San Siro Spa closes construction financing: the stadium company formed by AC Milan and Inter closed a construction facility reported at EUR 354 million from a syndicate of international banks, fixing the build programme at roughly 36 months from an October 2027 start. Amount is in EUROS; the field coerces the display to a dollar sign, so read the figure as EUR 354M. No individual lender is named in the sourcing, so the lender field is deliberately left empty rather than filled with a non-name.
