Guangzhou New Airport, the Pearl River Delta hub airport, is a major new aviation gateway rising in Gaoming District of Foshan, Guangdong, at the geographic centre of Foshan, Zhaoqing, Jiangmen and Yunfu in the western Greater Bay Area. The roughly RMB 41.8 billion project delivers two widely spaced parallel runways, a terminal of about 260,000 square metres designed by the Guangdong Architectural Design & Research Institute with ADPi, and 94 aircraft stands, sized for about 30 million passengers, 500,000 tonnes of cargo and 260,000 flights a year, with high-speed rail links planned through the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing line.
