Designed by Büro Ole Scheeren with spatial design by Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, it is conceived around contemporary visual and performing arts, pairing flexible galleries with a venue for live performance, immersive installations, workshops and creative retail. Its programming treats art as a cross-disciplinary field, deliberately reaching into technology, ecology and urbanism to reflect the city around it. The museum anchors the public, civic face of a campus otherwise given over to work, opening a cultural front door onto one of Shenzhen's most ambitious new districts.
