Oasis Towers
MVRDV's Oasis Towers frame a lush central garden between two 150-metre, L-shaped towers whose facades are modelled on stratified rock cliffs, the horizontal striations breaking up the glassy bulk typical of Chinese financial-district high-rises.
MVRDV's Oasis Towers frame a lush central garden between two 150-metre, L-shaped towers whose facades are modelled on stratified rock cliffs, the horizontal striations breaking up the glassy bulk typical of Chinese financial-district high-rises. The two towers face each other from opposite corners while a three-to-four-storey podium wraps the perimeter, enclosing the elevated green "oasis" at its heart and giving residents and the public a shared landscaped haven among the skyscrapers. The program stacks apartments above retail and bar-restaurant space, knitting living, leisure, and commerce into a single block. Set at the edge of Nanjing's Jiangbei New Area Financial District, it reframes the dense central business district tower as a vehicle for greenery and communal space rather than sheer floor area.
