The story so far

Founded by Tampa businessman Tony Miller, the park centers on a surf lagoon powered by Australian firm Surf Lakes and its Central Wave Device, which sends sets of waves of different sizes radiating out from the middle of the lagoon so surfers of every level can ride at once. Around the water, plans call for roughly half a mile of beach, restaurants and bars, retail, fitness and wellness facilities, concert and event venues and a full adventure park, with about 700 parking spaces shaded by solar canopies. Billed as the first surf park of its kind on Florida's Gulf Coast, it is designed as a regional attraction for Tampa Bay, with non-surf amenities expected to drive most of its business. Pasco County commissioners approved the expanded Two Rivers plan that ties new development to the surf destination.
