Nobu Hospitality is set to expand in Portugal with a new development at Monte Rei, an estate spanning more than 1,000 acres in the Eastern Algarve, near Vila Nova de Cacela. The project will include a 100-room hotel, a signature Nobu restaurant, and a collection of villas and branded residences.

The hotel is the second Portuguese destination for the brand, founded by Robert De Niro, chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper, following Nobu Hotel Lisbon, with Nobu Hotel Madrid also in the Iberian pipeline. Architecture is led by DSA Architects, with interiors by Rockwell Group, Nobu's longtime design partner. The 100 rooms and suites sit alongside the Nobu restaurant, the Japanese dining concept that has anchored the brand's properties worldwide.

Owned and developed by Portuguese asset manager Norfin, the resort is built around Monte Rei's Jack Nicklaus Signature championship golf course, long rated among the best in the country. The residential component spans roughly 226,000 square feet of homes for private ownership, each with access to the hotel's services and amenities, an approach Nobu has applied from Toronto to Nashville.
Construction is set to begin in 2027, with the first guests anticipated in 2029.
