Waldorf Astoria is officially debuts in Malaysia, as Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur has just opened its doors in the Bukit Bintang Golden Triangle with a 23-story tower made entirely of suites, rising on the ground where the Hotel Istana stood for nearly three decades.

Every one of the 268 suites has floor-to-ceiling views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Interiors are by Deboss Collective, in natural stone, warm timber, woven textiles, and handcrafted finishes, with joinery drawn from traditional Malay marquetry. The layouts are built for longer stays and multigenerational travel, and Hilton describes them as pairing the scale and privacy of a residence with Waldorf Astoria service. Each suite also comes with a yoga mat, a Digital Detox Card, and an in-suite wellness kit.
The brand's signature clock stands at the entrance to Peacock Alley, the lounge at the center of the hotel, and this one takes its geometry from the historic Islamic astrolabes in the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, crafted in bronze and illuminated glass with Art Deco influences. An art collection assembled with the same museum runs through the hotel, beginning with a monumental 19th-century painting of Qajar princes in the Grand Lobby and continuing through works by Malaysian artists.

Garima Arora brings her approach to Indian cuisine to Yaari, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten has three concepts under one roof: JG KL, abc kitchens KL, and The Bar by JG. Breakfast is served at The Istana, and the lounges handle afternoon tea, cocktails, and evening gatherings. The restaurants of Bukit Bintang are a short walk out the front door.
The Waldorf Astoria Spa covers 24,500 square feet over two floors and runs on a recovery and longevity philosophy, with personalized La Prairie treatments. Its Masters in Residence program gives guests and members access to specialists in osteopathy, fitness, nutrition, yoga, Pilates, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and facial reflexology. On the events side, the hotel holds more than 40,000 square feet of space led by the 16,630-square-foot Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom, which takes up to 2,500 guests for receptions. An Executive Hub handles meetings and corporate events.

Park Hyatt made its own Malaysia debut inside Merdeka 118 in 2025, and Waldorf Astoria now follows with an all-suite tower of its own. Elsewhere in the brand's pipeline, Waldorf Astoria Diriyah is rising now in Riyadh and Waldorf Astoria Miami Beach is breaking ground.
